My playground

Smiles of circumstance
Towards the outside world
Brownish steel eyes
A war ongoing on the inside

Words running after each other
Like kids in a playground
But no laughter of joy
In their wild, quiet chaos

Catch me if you can
Before I get out of touch
My lungs emptied by silent screams
And my heartbeats wasted in vain.

I love the rhythm this poem has and the last two lines are my favorites. They’re so raw and beautifully worded.
