The repairman

Dad taught me how to fix
Things that could still be saved
And take pleasure and pride
From seeing them work again

Grandpa taught me to keep
Seemingly useless things
Imagining new lives
For screws and nails and strings

But now I feel frustrated
A messy bench in front
While stubbornly I dig
And look in every box

And as hard as I try
At the end of my wit
I can’t see tools to employ
Nor a spare that could fit

Because there are no screws
Or plates to take apart
Nor special glues conceived
To fix a broken heart.

Many thanks to sweet Calen for the inspiring conversation and for encouraging me to turn it into a…  a poem? 😉 ❤

There’s only one cure I know is time.
    Then it’s no guarantee.

Well Michael, time will solder the wound but what about the scraping trapped inside? :\
      Cheers, mate.

I should have said it hurts less with time unless your in your sixties and it’s still your high school sweetheart that left you.

I really like this because it shows us not just your word prowess, but tells us a little bit about your history as well. Making yourself known to your friends on here who follow you is a big step in moving on to see what life has in store for you next! Beautiful words, beautiful family history. Love it!

Well if you’re going to leave recipes, please use exact measurements because a “pinch of this or that” doesn’t cut it for me. I suck at cooking! 😀

Sorry but I come from a large family and we used “a bunch of this” or “a load of that” (I think I better reduce the size of the dishes before writing the recipes)

LoL..keep up with the traditions it is a great things, and you know what I am talking about, as we are part of the same culture…the problem it is how to fix a broken heart…it seems impossible at first, everything around doesn’t have any meaning anymore, nothing make sense, but time will pass, day after day, and somehow will heal…
