Hello

I know that we all go through hard moments in our lives and I know how hard it can be to go over a heartbreak. And maybe I’m not the appropriate person to give lessons about it, but… I think that Adele needs help!

In 2011 she used to sing about a guy which broke her heart and how he’d found someone else and got married (see Someone like you lyrics). And now, four years later, she’s calling him again (see Hello lyrics) asking to meet him, her words soaked with tears.

Now either she’s talking about someone else (in which case she’s hopeless at dealing with liaisons) or she’s a dangerous stalker (poor guy, leave him alone!). Or, even worse, she’s only trying to stick to her eternal broken-hearted brand image.

Hey girl, listen to me, get out of this quicksand. Leave all this ridiculous melancholic sentimental sh*t to us fogeys. Go out with friends, have a few vodkas, meet other guys and enjoy. Please, Adele, it’s time to move on…

    Poor Adele.
I vote for she’s hopeless at dealing with breakups.
In all seriousness- Adele cry-fests are somewhat cathartic for us girls. Does it not work for the boys? What makes y’all cry those healing emotion and angst purging cries?

Oh wow… That was interesting to hear THAT first thing in the morning! Can’t even get my eyes open yet… Thank you? LOL I’ve only recently discovered Adele. I can see there are a lot of people who have long standing relationships with her music!

Not only is she making a lot of money for it, but she has doubters/haters/non-lovers write about her. I see it as success on her part. 🙂 I bet she is having the last laugh!

I’m sure you’re right. But I could’n resist to underline the stalker thing. This morning, while listening to the song on the radio, I couldn’t stop laughing while imagining the guy’s part of the conversation: “LEAVE ME **** ALONE, YOU ****** ***** ******!!!” 😀

I remember I read a post before where people are more creative during sad times, but also depression doesn’t keep us alive so I believe it’s best to stay away from it. x

Funny after my last breakup I listened to the last album all the time…when it felt like I was hurting myself over by indulging in thinking that wouldnt let me heal I found it all a bit too dirgelike (is that even a word? ) So II get whete you are coming from with this. 🙂 yet beimg human sometimes we remain stuck for a long time.

Oh my dear, a time comes when we feel that all the sad love songs talk about our story and make us cry. I have been there too, I can’t deny it, and I have my own list of torch songs. My blog is “songs about a farewell”, so it would be hypocritical for me to criticize the concept. Every tear you cry is one less tear to be cried, as I wrote once, so I believe it is a part of the healing process. Nevertheless, i found the Adele’s phone call story a little risible… Much love from a cold and foggy Toulouse, HC

I loved this post. I think that the song is very cat stratch. She’s critcising a man for not being ambitious and saying, “well, see I’m successful and you’re not but you don’t want me so you’re crap.” It is passive aggressive and immature. I know women like this. The man said, “I don’t want you, please stop contacting me,” and they are still talking about him, over and over again. It is absolutely crazy mad stalking and lots of asterices. The best advice I ever got about love was from a man. When I fell in love for the very first time with someone who was indifferent to me, he told me, “Tell him you like him and if he doesn’t respond in kind, leave him alone.” I was 23 years old. I suffered quietly and got on with my life. That person has not called me. I did tons of things in the meantime. Heartbreak sucks, but not getting on with our lives while trying to get over the pain, is the number one way to waste this wonderful life we have been gifted with. Great grown up advice from you, HC.

Thank you, SB. “Heartbreak sucks, but not getting on with our lives while trying to get over the pain, is the number one way to waste this wonderful life we have been gifted with” – well your sentence truly deserves to be carved in stone… ❤
