This is one of the two obelisks that Augustus brought back from the Egyptian city of Heliopolis, sitting now in Piazza del Popolo. It’s a bit weird to find hieroglyphs to the glory of Ramses II in the heart of Rome…

      I am sure that somewhere on earth there is white-haired and almost blind professor who knows… Jokes apart, it says: “The sky of the Gods happy for the deeds of Seth I, son of the Sun, loved by the souls of Heliopolis like the Sun itself”.
