Some dreams

In camouflage clothes
They blend into
The thoughts of the day
Like sharpened hunters
They patiently hide
Confused into memories

As the dark hours come
I can tell the lures
And hear in the distance
The pace of the pack
I know they’ll succeed
In their merciless task

But I cannot resist
As my mind releases
Its constant catch
And your smile I see
Sweet and painful seal
To my new surrender.

A rose

A rose among the roses
A star among the stars
Shiny red velvet gem
And ointment to my scars

Our fall became a winter
And hearts heavy like gold
Your skin as thick as bark
My eyes cheeky and cold

Sour drops to a thirsty soul
And sharp and shining blade
Caught in the light of doom
A sight that will not fade

You, rose among the roses
The hand I will not hold
You, dream among my dreams
Those dreams you won’t unfold.

Small

Bleach smelling corridor
And the deaf whisper
Of sugar falling
Into my coffee cup

Malicious white spot
Trough monochrome film
Unwanted reminder
Of a border too close

I need fresh air
Or just a time out
Smoke draws translucent
Well-known skulls

You smile at me
And talk about love
And how you feel ready
And how you feel small

The planet’s spinning
Hectic and blind
I can take your hand
But I cannot stop it

Compassionate smile
Forever I’m lost
While my mind bends
To letting you go.

Lazarus

As the cheerless towns pass my window
I can see a washed out moon through the fog
And then a voice inside my head breaks the analogue
And says

“Follow me down to the valley below
You know moonlight is bleeding from out of your soul”

I survived against the will of my twisted folk
But in the deafness of my world the silence broke
And said

“Follow me down to the valley below
You know moonlight is bleeding from out of your soul”

“My David, don’t you worry, this cold world is not for you
So rest your head upon me, I have strength to carry you”

Ghosts of the twenties rising
Golden summers just holding you

“Follow me down to the valley below
You know moonlight is bleeding from out of your soul
Come to us, Lazarus, it’s time for you to go”

100

You are one hundred
Trees I’ll never climb
The greediness of time
Took all their shapes away

You are one hundred
Poems I won’t declaim
The thoughts and the sounds
That lead my mind to sway

You are one hundred
Dreams still to be claimed
One hundred notes
In a song that I won’t play.
